PURPOSE: A coating film is provided to achieve improved contrast by using a black pigment and a pigment having an absorbing function at a specific wavelength. CONSTITUTION: A coating film is deposited on an outer surface of a panel of a cathode ray tube. The coating film is formed by coating a liquid containing silica, a conductive metal material, a black pigment for transmissivity adjustment, and a selected wavelength absorbing pigment for selectively absorbing a wavelength of 550 to 600nm.
