PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce load of a one-way clutch for a starter and miniaturize an engine by effectively secure a space to dispose a kick start gear train in an engine starter where a power-connection/disconnection between a main shaft and a crank shaft mounting a drive gear group is switched over by a clutch for gear shift and the one-way clutch for the starter is interposed between a starter motor and the crank shaft. SOLUTION: The clutch 30 for gear shift is mounted to one end part of the main shaft 27 and the kick start gear train 34 containing a clutch gear 36 rotating with an input member 31 of the clutch 30 for gear shift is provided between one end part of the crank shaft 16 and the input member 31. The kick start gear train 76 is disposed between the drive gear group 29 and the clutch gear 36.
