METHOD OF SUPPRESSING EXTENSION OF FATIGUE CRACK, METHOD OF DETECTING FATIGUE CRACK, AND PASTE USED FOR THE METHODS

A method of detecting fatigue crack capable of easily detecting the fatigue crack visually even at a rather initial stage and a method of suppressing the extension of the fatigue crack. The method of detecting the fatigue crack comprises the step (a) of preparing a paste (2) formed by mixing particles with a hardness higher than that of a base metal (1) with a viscous oil, the step (b) of applying the paste (2) to the base metal (1) at the desired positions, and the step (c) of detecting the fatigue crack based on a variation in color which is caused when the base metal is ground by the particles when the fatigue crack is opened and closed in the base metal (1) and base metal powder produced by the grinding moves to the surface of the paste (2).
