PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new sulfur-containing silane compound which improves the dispersibility of silica into a rubber component and can reduce the viscosity of an unvulcanized rubber composition comprising silica, and a rubber composition comprising the same. SOLUTION: The sulfur-containing silane compound is represented by average composition formula (I): (R<SP>1</SP>O)<SB>3-p-q</SB>R<SP>2</SP><SB>p</SB>R<SP>3</SP><SB>q</SB>Si-R<SP>4</SP>-S<SB>x</SB>-R<SP>4</SP>-SiR<SP>3</SP><SB>q</SB>R<SP>2</SP><SB>p</SB>(OR<SP>1</SP>)<SB>3-p-q</SB>(wherein R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>are each a 1-4C alkyl group; R<SP>3</SP>is an 2-4C alkenyl group; R<SP>4</SP>is a 1-15C divalent hydrocarbon group; p is an integer of 0-2; q is an integer of 1-3, provided that p+q=≤3; and x is an average of 1 to less than 4), and the rubber composition comprises 100 pts.mass rubber component, 10-200 pts.mass silica, and 1-30 pts.mass the above sulfur-containing silane compound.
