<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective tube and a protective tube applicator which enable the facilitation of the manual operations and the shortening of the operation time while protecting the linear tissue near the site to be treated in the surgical operation without adding new instruments for holding the body cavities, forceps or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The protective tube 1 is formed in the shape of a tube that enables the application thereof on the linear tissue such as the blood vessel or nerve covering the linear tissue and a slit 3 for insertion which is formed from one end 1A to the other end 1B of the tube so as to let the linear tissue into or out it. The protective tube 1 is made of a soft and insulating material, for example, a polytetrafluoroethylene resin (PTFE) or a polyimide resin while the one end 1A and the other end 1B and the rim part of the slit 3 for the insertion are chamfered individually.
