INVERSE DISPERSION COMPENSATION FIBER WITH LARGE-EFFECTIVE SECTIONAL AREA AND OPTICAL FIBER TRANSMISSION SYSTEM INCORPORATING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inverse dispersion compensation optical fiber (IDF) with a large-effective sectional area having a negative dispersion and a negative dispersion slope.

SOLUTION: The IDF contains a core region 21, a cladding region 27, a first trench region 22 existing between them and having a negative refractive index, a first barrier region 23 adjacent to the first trench region 22 and having a positive refractive index and a second barrier region 24 adjacent to the first barrier region 23 and having a negative refractive index. The effective area, Aeff, of the IDF preferably is approximately 31μm2at a transmission wavelength of approximately 1,550 nm.
