PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce management costs and the downtime of an information processing apparatus for replacing the information processing apparatuses. SOLUTION: A backup system to backup target data stored in the information processing apparatus has a backup program storage part which stores a backup program, and a readout authentication information storage part which stores readout authentication information. In addition, the system also has a backup function transmission part which transmits the backup program and the readout authentication information to the information processing apparatus, and a data storage part in which target data that are transferred to the backup system by the information processing apparatus that executes the backup program is stored. The backup program is started by a user on the information processing apparatus, and has a readout authentication means for receiving permission to read out target data from the information processing apparatus by allowing the readout authentication information to be authenticated, and a transfer means for allowing the information processing apparatus to read out target data and to transfer them to the backup system.
