A golf mat for displaying advertising includes a first layer having a top surface and a bottom surface; a second layer having a top surface and a bottom surface, wherein the first layer is attached to the second layer; a recess extending into the top surface of the first layer; and an advertising element having advertising displayed thereon, wherein the advertising element is situated within the recess. Methods of manufacturing the present invention and displaying advertising utilizing the present invention are also disclosed. Furthermore, a kit for retrofitting an existing golf mat to display advertising is disclosed.
