PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact freezer that is not in a complex structure without using any fluorocarbon and flammable refrigerants. SOLUTION: The freezer 1 comprises a housing 2; a cooling space 3 that is provided in the housing 2 for accommodating a cooling target; a temperature sensor 7 of the inside of the freezer 1 for detecting the temperature of the cooling space 3 or the cooling target; a Stirling refrigerating machine 4 for reducing the temperature of the cooling space 3 to a deep temperature or its nearby temperature zone; and a control unit 5 for controlling the Stirling refrigerating machine 4 so that the cooling target is cooled to a deep temperature or its nearby temperature after accommodating the cooling target in the cooling space 3. The Stirling refrigerating machine 4 comprises a piston; a piston drive means for driving the piston in a cylinder; and a displacer that is resonated with a specific phase difference to the piston.
