A camera module, realizing remarkable reduction in the size of a frame buffer memory, enables image data compression, creation of thumbnail images of the image data in an FIFO (First In First Out) order and in units of several lines of the images, and transmission to a host module. An electronic device comprises a camera module for shooting and transmitting the data obtained, and a host module for receiving data. A compressed small portion containing data created such that a small portion of one frame image data is compressed and a sub small portion containing data corresponding to the small portion and having a lower resolution than that of the small portion are alternately transmitted to the host module by the camera module.
