PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for locking a mobile terminal are provided to allow a user to easily set or release a locking function without having to understand a complicated menu construction of a mobile terminal. CONSTITUTION: It is determined whether rotation of an antenna of a mobile terminal is detected(S1), If rotation of the antenna is detected, it is determined whether a mobile terminal is set in a lock mode(S2). If the mobile terminal is set in the lock mode, a number according to a value according to the rotation of the antenna is inputted, displayed and stored(S3). The inputted value can be displayed on a screen display unit(S4). It is determined whether the number of digits of the inputted number is identical to the number of digits previously set in a lock setting information management unit(S5). If both numbers are identical to each other, it is determined whether both passwords are identical(S6). If both passwords are identical, the mobile terminal is unlocked(S7).
