METHOD FOR PRODUCING KNIVES WITH SOFT EDGES (VARIANTS)

FIELD: processes for applying liquids or other fluent materials to particular surfaces. ^ SUBSTANCE: coating or skimming knife comprises strip made of steel or another dimensionally stable material and polymeric coating applied on above strip along longitudinal wearing end part thereof. Method involves performing continuous movement of above strip relative coating applying and heat treatment station; continuous applying quick-setting polymeric composition on end knife part in above station; providing applied composition spreading up to reaching edge of end part; providing polymeric composition setting to create elastic noncohesive coating; performing additional coating setting under elevated temperature if necessary. Method in accordance with alternative embodiment involves supplying strip of doubled thickness in comparison with previous one; continuous applying quick-setting polymeric composition on longitudinal central part of the strip and cutting the strip in longitudinal direction into two strips having coated edges to form coating or skimming knife. ^ EFFECT: increased economy and simplicity for producing knives non-limited in length and geometry. ^ 18 cl, 3 dwg, 2 ex
