PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To connect a telephone set connected to a metal cable to an optical hub to which the telephone set cannot have been conventionally connected. SOLUTION: A multimedia wiring system is provided with: a plurality of telephone receptacles 2 each connected to the telephone set 8 via a metal cable C2; a plurality of POF receptacles 3 each connected to a personal computer 9 via an optical cable C3; and a multimedia port 1 for containing a router 14, a terminal board 12, an optical hub 13, and a converter 15. The converter 15 is interposed between one optical port of the optical hub 13 and the terminal board 12, receives IP packets for an IP telephone set from the optical port as optical signals, outputs speech contents of the IP telephone set obtained from the IP packet to the terminal board 12 as analog electric signals, receives speech contents of the IP telephone set from the terminal board 12 as analog electric signals, and outputs the IP packets for the IP telephone set including the speech contents to the optical port as optical signals.
