PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a detected result used for the control of various functions or the like and to improve the durability of a position detecting part with respect to an arbitrary relative angle formed of two casings when the two casings are made open to each other in portable terminal equipment configured to detect relative positions of both the casings. SOLUTION: The portable terminal equipment 1 has two casings 2, 3 which can be overlapped with each other in the direction of thickness, and a connection part 8 which turnably connects both the casings 2, 3 with an axial line 15 extending in the direction of the thickness of the two casings 2, 3 as a center. The equipment is provided with a position detecting sensor 11 within the one casing and a body 10 whose position is detected which is provided circularly with the axial line 15 as a center within the other casing, and a control part 12 for detecting a state that the position detecting sensor 11 faces the object 10 and a state that the position detecting sensor 11 does not face the object 10 and for controlling functions provided in the portable terminal equipment 1.
