A pivot hinge for a window comprises an arm 10 with an inclined knuckle 2 (Fig. 2, not shown) having an axial bore 3, and a second arm 1 with a hollow pivot pin 11. A selflubricating plastic flanged bush 5 with a domed base 6 is fitted into the bore 3, the pivot pin 11 being a frictional fit therein. The flange 7 has a chamfered surface 8, which provides an annular edge 9, which takes up any expansion of the window due to temperature variation, without forcing the pin further into the bush. Preferably, the knuckle 2 is slotted and provided with an Allen (Registered Trade Mark) screw which will vary the diameter of the bore 3, thereby to vary the frictional force between the pin and bore (see Fig. 2, not shown). |
