PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To specify accurately an obstacle part being a cause of write-in error by separating an obstacle of a tape recording medium and an obstacle of a tape medium from each other. SOLUTION: This device is a tape recording device recording data in a tape medium. The device is provided with a data write-in part in which a data unit is written in the tape medium, when an error is detected in write-in of the data unit, the same data unit is written in the tape medium again, and a plurality of data units are recorded successively, a write-in number of times counting part counting the number of times of write-in being the number of times at which the data units are written in a data set including a plurality of data units, a write-in number of times information storing part storing write-in number of times information in which information indicating the counted number of times of write-in and a physical position in the tape medium are corresponded each other in a plurality of tape media to which the tape recording device performs write-in, and an obstacle judging part detecting obstacle of the data write-in part based on the write-in number of times information.
