WATER-REPELLING ACTIVATED CARBON

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide water repelling activated carbon having excellent water repellency.

SOLUTION: The water repelling activated carbon has ≤0.05 mmol/g surface acidic group and ≤5% water absorption under 90% relative humidity at 25°C. The water repelling activated carbon shows strong water repellency because it has a surface acid group quantity and water absorption equal to or below prescribed values. As a result, the activated carbon is particularly useful as an absorbent for absorbing an organic-based compound in steam or water.
