A system (10) for measuring a profile of an object comprising a source (18) creating a beam (22) of electromagnetic beam receiver (20) spaced from the source (18) for processing an output signal proportional to the girth of the object being measured. A platform (26) for providing rotational and vertical movement of the object being measured causing the object to obstruct a portion of the electromagnetic beam (22) generated by the source (18). A processor (16) for processing the output signal from the electromagnetic beam receiver (20) to form a composite profile of the object measured.
