A label for applying to the spine of a ring binder has a rectangular outline and is fitted to the spine by conventional means. A cover sheet (34) is positioned over the label and carries additional information (36), e.g. operating instructions, description of binder, and promotional data. The cover sheet can be attached to one edge of the label by a perforated fold and/or is attached via removable adhesive stripes along the edge of the sheet. The cover sheet can be larger or smaller than the label and can have lifting edges for ease of removal.
