PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide toner which allows to have the prescribed image density even when image formation is performed on plain paper with a small toner amount, ensures a small difference in reflection due to the difference between toner layer thicknesses of images formed in every reproduced color, allows to form a high density image with a small toner amount, and enables uniform good color reproduction. SOLUTION: The toner contains a binder resin and a coloring pigment, a content of the coloring pigment is 5-20 wt.% and a volume average particle diameter D of the toner is 3-9μm. An arithmetic average surface roughness Rs of a solid image region, after fixation, formed in a coating weight M of 0.2-0.5 mg/cm<SP>2</SP>on a transfer medium having an arithmetic average surface roughness Rp of 5-7μm satisfies the relational expression: Rs/Rp≤0.6×D/(10M/ρ) whereinρrepresents the true specific gravity [g/cm<SP>3</SP>] of the toner.
