PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems in a conventional refrigerating showcase such that when a fresh food such as meat or fish is displayed and stored therein, the freshness cannot be held high over a long time, and troublsome wrapping is needed to prevent the drying. SOLUTION: This freshness holding device 1 comprises a negative ion generator 25 and a humidifying treatment device 29. In this freshness holding device, air is made to include a large amount of negative ions by the operation of the negative ion generator 25. The negative ion-containing air is sent to the humidifying treatment device 29 comprising a vessel 31 containing water W, where the humidity of the negative ion-containing air is increased, and the resulting air is blown into a refrigerating showcase.
