System or installation control device comprises a computer unit (2) with a display unit (3) via which menu-based control can be implemented. A counter is provided for counting the number of times that individual menu items are selected to implement a particular function. The menu control interface includes a continuously displayed menu section with the most frequently selected menu functions. Independent claims are also included for the following:- (a) a software product for controlling a menu interface of a control unit display and; (b) a method for controlling a system or installation via a computer unit with a menu driven interface.
