The mechanically loaded and shear-resistant vibration damping system consists of a support element (2), an oscillating mass (1) and an insulating element (3). The support element and the oscillating mass have knobs or knob-like protrusions which grip into the insulating elements. At least one knob (5,6) is constructed so that it engages without contact through the insulating element into a mating cut-out (8) in the support element or opposite lying oscillating mass. All the knobs (4-6) are solid or hollow and may have different geometrical base shapes.
