A method of forming a fuel cell (10) is disclosed wherein a curable composition (36) is applied to a first fuel cell plate (24A) with the curable composition (36) there between. After assembly of the fuel cell plates (24A, 24C), the assembly (10) is compressed and then the curable composition (36) is cured. The curable composition (36) is compressible and several of the fuel cell assemblies (10) can be assembled together to form a fuel cell which can be disassembled.
