The present invention relates to methods of screening for potential insecticidal agents using genes encoding insect P450 enzymes. In particular the invention relates to methods of using insect cyp genes and/or their promoters to identify and/or optimise potential insecticidal agents. Such methods employ transgenic cells and/or whole organisms in which one or more cyp gene is deleted or under-expressed.
