An automotive seat has a backrest with a separate cover (1). The cover has a front panel that also extends around the seat sides (20) and over the top of the backrest as far as the uprights (12) supporting the headrest. The rear panel covers the rear face of the seat. The front and rear panels are linked by a sliding clasp fastener, with a gap between the two uprights.
