<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for recording/reproducing optical information, capable of being constituted simply as a device at low costs while the characteristics of holographic recording/reproducing are maintained, and capable of reproducing the highly reliable information of a high signal-to-noise ratio. <P>SOLUTION: An optical system 1 is provided with a space optical modulator 12 for adding modulation to a luminous flux, a polarized beam splitter 15, and a 1/4 wavelength plate 28 arranged to set the direction of its fast and slow axes to be 45° with respect to an S or P polarized light. During recording, a light made incident as an S polarized light and caused to be a right circular polarized light at the 1/4 wavelength plate 28, and light made incident as a P polarized light and caused to be a left circular polarized light at the 1/4 wavelength plate 28 are made incident on an exposing area 321 to record information holographically. During reproducing, a reflected diffraction light generated in the exposing area 321 and passed through the polarized beam splitter 15 and a beam splitter 16 is reproduced by a 2-dimensional image sensor 26. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
