PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head equipped with a magnetoresistive effect element which has high output and is most appropriate for high recording density magnetic recording and reproduction. SOLUTION: The magnetic head is provided with: a first magnetic film; a conductor which intersects the first magnetic film through a first intermediate layer; a current circuit structure which is connected to pass a current from the first magnetic film to the conductor; a second magnetic film which is formed on the conductor so as to intersect the conductor through a second intermediate layer and generates a voltage change signal by using a change in an external magnetic field; a resistance change amplification film which contains a material whose resistance changes nonlinearly with voltage; and an electrode which is connected to the resistance change amplification film.
