PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stirling engine and its manufacturing method capable of preventing a piston from being excessively moved in sealing a working medium by a simple process. SOLUTION: This stirling engine comprises a pressure container 4, a cylinder 3 mounted in the pressure container 4 and having a first passage 3b, a piston 1 mounted reciprocatably in the cylinder 3 and having a second passage 1c, a displacer 2 in opposition to the piston 1 in the cylinder 3, a linear motor 10 applying the electromagnetic force to the piston 1 in sealing the working medium, the working medium sealed in the pressure container 4, and a controller 11 as a control means connected with the linear motor 10, driving and controlling the linear motor 10 in sealing the working medium, and communicating the first and second passages 3b, 1c.
