The electronic apparatus includes an encoder that encodes source data to generate transmission data, a communication device that transmits the transmission data generated by the encoder to the external device, a unit that determines the quality with which the source data is to be transmitted, in accordance with the type of the source data, and a unit that controls the encoder to vary an amount of the generated transmission data on the basis of the determined quality.
