PURPOSE: An antioxidant composition containing quercetin and vitamin C is provided. It is applied to milk products, beverages, health supplementary foods, gum, cosmetics, medical bands or the like to give an antioxidant function. Therefore, it is helpful for improving health and preventing aging. It also can be used as an inhibitor and a therapeutic agent for pesticide poisoning or diabetic microvascular complications. CONSTITUTION: The antioxidant composition contains 0.1 to 99.99% by weight of quercetin and 0.01 to 99.9% by weight of vitamin C. The quercetin is prepared by distilling the acetic acid extract of onion under reduced pressure, dissolving the extract in ethyl acetate and then followed by column chromatography on silica gel. The dairy product having an antioxidant function is obtained by adding 0.01 to 50% by weight of the antioxidant composition. The dairy product is milk, yogurt, cheese, a lactic acid fermented product. The health supplementary food is obtained by mixing 5 to 77% by weight of the antioxidant composition, 3 to 75% by weight of ginseng powder and its extract, red ginseng powder and its extract, or mushroom powder and its extract.
