PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which does not induce failure in the image quality caused by cleaning failure even for long term use by specifying the surface free energy of a photoreceptor and the hardness and blade load of a cleaning blade. SOLUTION: The photoreceptor 2 installed in an image forming apparatus 1 and forming an electrostatic latent image by exposure to light in accordance with image information is specified to have 28 to 35 mN/m surface free energy (γ). The cleaning blade 31a mounted in a cleaning device 31 to remove a foreign matter such as toner remaining on the surface of the photoreceptor 2 is specified to have 55 to 85 degrees of the spring-type hardness, and 5 to 40 gf/cm of blade load. The image forming apparatus thus specified shows excellent cleaning property and prevents filming, so that high quality images can be formed for a long term. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
