PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an induction heat system fixing device that is free of thermal shock on a fixing member and inter-layer peeling of a fixing member. SOLUTION: A fixing nip N is formed by firm contact of a pressure roller 15 and a fixing roller 11 that has a heat generation layer 13. A first coil unit 17 disposed on the periphery of the fixing roller 11 is distant from the fixing nip N whereas a second coil unit 18 is closer to the fixing nip N than the first coil unit 17. When a high frequency current is applied to the first and second coil units 17 and 18, an eddy current flows in parts of the heat generation layer 13 of the fixing roller 11, which parts face the coil units, so that heat by Joule's heat is generated. Heat energy generated by the first coil unit 17 is made low and heat energy generated by the second coil unit 18 is made high, thereby relaxing a sudden temperature change. Accordingly, inter-layer peeling can be prevented, and fatigue caused by thermal shock can also be relaxed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
