Preparation of an optically active allene compound (I) comprises reacting an allene compound (II) with an acylating agent or water in the presence of an enzyme catalyst. Preparation of an optically active allene compound of formula (I) comprises reacting an allene compound of formula (II) with an acylating agent containing R 4(when both R 1= H) or water (when both R 1= acyl represented by R 4) in the presence of an enzyme catalyst.
