The invention relates to a seal for sealing a bottle having a bottle neck (1 ) provided with an opening, and an outer threaded section (5, 6) configured ne xt to the opening. The aim of the invention is to provide a seal that is easy t o handle and inexpensive to produce. For this purpose, the seal (2) comprises at least one, especially several deformed sections that are plastically deforme d in such a manner that they form recesses (21, 22) in the outer peripheral surface of the seal and that are adapted to the threaded section (5, 6) on t he interior (25, 26).
