PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate protective film which is a cellulose ester film, can inhibit formation of grain-like foreign substances, and is hard to form the grain-like foreign substances. SOLUTION: The cellulose ester film having a thickness of 20-60μm which is used as a polarizing plate protective film and the like has a ratio of the spectral transmission intensity at a wavelength of 500 nm to that at a wavelength of 600 nm of 0.95-1.05. It is preferred that the cellulose ester film has a content of a magnesium compound in terms of a magnesium atom, based on the weight of the film by weight ratio, of≤30 ppm and a content of a calcium compound in terms of a calcium atom, based on the weight of the film by weitht ratio, of≤30 ppm.
