PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming apparatus that is capable of sufficiently storing a black toner and that is free from color deviation, and also to provide an optical scanner suitable for this device. SOLUTION: In this optical scanner 1, a first and a second laser beam LY, LM that are each reflected on each reflection area of a light deflector 5 and that are passed through in the direction receding from a photoreceptor drum 58 rather than the optical axis of first to third image forming lens systems 27, 29, 31 are reflected by a second return mirrors 35Y, 35M and then, after intersected mutually, guided to the corresponding photoreceptor drums 58Y, 58M by third return mirrors 37Y, 37M.
