PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely wind in an excess thread at the time of wind thread shank sewing in a button sewing machine. SOLUTION: In the button sewing machine (100), by blowing air from the tip part (71a) of an air nozzle (71) provided on a pressing plate (61) for pressing an object to be sewn to the upper surface (4a) of a tongue (4) to the side of the tip part (44) of the tongue, the excess thread (20a) of a sewing thread (20) is made to trail to a sewing thread side and is brought down and the excess thread is wound in at the time of root wound sawing of winding a root wound thread (30).
