PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve inconvenience such that a user cannot open a lid with dishes or the like put thereon and has difficulty to take out the dishes from a sink by being impeded by the lid. SOLUTION: The dishwasher (dish washing apparatus) 20 is provided with a washing tub (storage tub) 21 having an opening part 21a in its upper part and the lid 22 covering the opening part 21a in a prescribed closed position, provided in parallel to the sink 11 provided in a counter and washes contents stored in the washing tub 21. The dishwasher is so constituted that the lid 22 can be slid from the closed position in a frontward direction (a prescribed moving direction) different from the direction where the sink 11 is disposed and, when sliding the lid in the frontward direction, the opening part 21a is opened. This constitution can open the lid with an article put on the lid and allows the user to easily take out the object such as the dishes from the sink and take it in the dishe washing apparatus such as the dishwasher.
