<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wide viewing angle rapid-response liquid crystal display which does not use a specified wide observation film to compensate the viewing angle of a liquid crystal panel. <P>SOLUTION: The display is equipped with a back light unit 202, an optical compensating circular polarizer unit 204, the liquid crystal panel 206, and an optical compensating circular analyzer unit 208. The optical compensating polarizer unit 204 is arranged on the back light unit 202, the liquid crystal panel 206 is arranged on the optical compensating circular polarizer unit 204, and the optical compensating analyzer unit 208 is arranged on the liquid crystal panel. This liquid crystal display operates using circular polarized light to improve uniformity of a visual angle characteristic and a contrast ratio and prevent gray level inversion at a wide viewing angle. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
