A VIPA optical device having a demultiplexing function with high accuracy realized by reducing the channel-to-channel loss variation. The optical device comprises a collimator lens for converting an input light to a parallel light, a phase mask for changing the intensity distribution different from the Gauss distribution by changing the phase of the parallel light from the collimator lens, a line focus lens for focusing the light outputted from the phase mask in a linear direction, and a VIPA plate for multiply reflecting and outputting the light focused by the line focus lens.
