<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost by reducing the ROM capacity of a printer without sacrifice of user's operability. <P>SOLUTION: Key operation on a printer is analyzed and if printing of image data is required as a result of analysis, it is informed to a host where data corresponding to key information is developed and transferred to the printer as ordinary print data. When data of one-and-one correspondence with the nozzles of a print head, e.g. a nozzle check pattern, is required, it is transferred to the printer using a direct print mode. Since information and data concerning demonstration print, nozzle check pattern print, and registration adjusting pattern print are not required in the printer, memory size for storing data can be reduced and thereby the ROM capacity can be reduced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
