PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the design by especially improving the mounting of a disk-like recording medium and also by reducing the size of a cover covering the aperture for mounting, in a vertical disk player mounted on a perpendicular plane while an axial line of the disk-like recording medium is almost horizontal. SOLUTION: A sliding plate 11 mounting a recording/playing back unit 21 thereon is supported slidable in the vertical direction and engaging pins 38 of the side board sections 35, 36 of the cover 34 are engaged with a horizontal groove 29 of this sliding plate 21, and also the turning operation of the cover 34 is made so as buffered by a damper 43, then the sliding plate 11 is vertically moved linked with the turning operation of the cover 34.
