PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover a connection state before reset surely in an IEEE 1394 serial bus at the time of bus reset. SOLUTION: When a plurality of devices are connected by an IEEE 1394 serial bus through a channel, GUIDs of the connected devices are read out and stored in a memory. Upon the occurrence of the bus reset, the stored GUIDs are read out, a device connected before reset is specified, and based on a node ID assigned to that device, resources are requested for an IRM and the connection state before reset is recovered.
