<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magneto-optical disk which has a small diameter and large capacity and can record and reproduce the disk discrimination information, its recording method, and a reproducing method. <P>SOLUTION: This magneto-optical disk has, on its substrate, a main recording region in which first information is recorded, a sub-recording region which is formed at a more inner circumference side than the main recording region and in which second information including disk discrimination information is recorded, and a recording layer which is formed between the main recording region and the sub-recording region and including a buffer region in which third information is recorded. The second information is recorded by using a mark column formed in a stripe shape in the sub-recording region and the buffer region, wherein a plurality of marks constituting the mark column are a part where the a magnetization state of the recording layer is changed.
