<p>Ionic active agent-polymer complexes, formed by at least one ionic bond between a functional group of the polymer and the protonated active agent, are new. Ionic active agent-polymer complexes (I) of formula (1), formed by at least one ionic bond between a functional group of the polymer and the protonated active agent, are new. [Image] R1>proton, 1-12C alkyl or aromatic ring; R2>4-16C alkyl or 6-12C cyclic aliphatic group or is an oligomer chain comprising 2-15 C repeating units, -CH2CH2-O-, -CH2-CH(CH3)-O-, -CH2CH2CH2CH2-O- or is of formula (2); n, m : 1-500; X : phenolate, carboxylate, sulfonate, -NH->, -S-> or other cationic group; R3>part of the active agent that together with the protonated X is liberated as HX-R3> and comprises a 1-180 C structural group optionally containing heteroatoms Independent claims are included for: (1) producing the complex (I) by contacting an aliphatic or aliphatic-aromatic polyamidine with a proton donor group containing active agent and; (2) controlled release of the active agent from the complex (I) by hydrolytic cleavage of the polymer functional group of formula (1) to break the ionic bond and allow the controlled release of the active agent in its protonated form.</p> |
