PURPOSE: A method for recording data in an optical disk recorder is provided to variably control an encoding speed for encoding data into MPEG data and a recording speed for recording the encoded data, not to cause a buffer under run phenomenon, thereby effectively preventing a connected recording process from being generated. CONSTITUTION: A microcomputer sets an operational mode of an optical disk recorder to a data recording mode(S10), and sets a variable bit rate(S11). The microcomputer encodes outer input data into MPEG data, and records the encoded data on an optical disk(S12), and continuously monitors a current encoding bit rate(S13). If the current encoding bit rate is out of a reference range, the microcomputer variably controls a band of a low pass filter to increase or decrease a brightness component and a color component of the data(S15). The microcomputer increases the encoding bit rate by variably controlling encoding parameters(S16). If a data recording end is requested(S17), the microcomputer cancels the data recording mode(S18).
