PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device capable of reducing display data writing processing for character data when display data are scrolled and displayed at a display part. SOLUTION: This image display device is equipped with a display data storage means which stores display data to be displayed on the display means and can store display data more than display data of the display means, an external information processing means of writing the display data thereto, and a scroll display data readout means of reading the display data out of the display means in order according to sequentially set step quantities and outputting them to the display means. The information processing means has a scroll display data writing means of writing scroll display data before the display data readout means specifies a write address to the display data storage means with its own management address and begins to read, and the display data storage means has an address converting means of converting the inputted management address of the information processing means into its own management address.
