PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a door device for an elevator capable of surely moving doors in the closing direction regardless of the cutoff of a power source, when the power source is cut off because of electric power failure, and the like, during the door opening and closing motion. SOLUTION: Automatic closing devices 45 capable of energizing car doors 33a, 33b in the closing direction by gravitational force of weights 48, are mounted, a solenoid 50 is mounted for retaining the automatic closing devices 15 in a state that the energizing force is not acted on the car doors 33a, 33b in a normal time when the power is supplied to open and close the car doors 33a, 33b and hall doors regardless of the automatic closing devices 45, and the retention is released by the action of the solenoid 50 when the power source is cut off to make the energizing force act on the car doors 33a, 33b to close the car doors 33a, 33b and the hall doors engaged therewith by themselves.
