Provided are: a positive electrode active substance for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery, the positive electrode active substance enabling high capacity and high output when used in a positive electrode material; and a method for producing same. Specifically provided is a method for producing a positive electrode active substance for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery, the method including: a mixing step in which when washing a lithium-metal composite oxide powder which is represented by the general formula LicNi1-x-yCoxMyO2 (here, 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.35, 0 ≤ y ≤ 0.35, 0.97 ≤ c ≤ 1.25, and M is at least one type of element selected from among Mn, V, Mg, Mo, Nb, Ti and Al) and which comprises primary particles and secondary particles constituted by aggregating the primary particles, a tungsten compound powder prepared so as to have a degree of solubility A of 2.0 g/L or less when stirred for 20 minutes in water having a temperature of 25°C and a pH of 12.5 is added, the resultant substance is stirred, and solid-liquid separation is performed so as to obtain a mixture in which the tungsten compound is dispersed;and a heat treatment step in which the mixture is heat treated so as to homogeneously disperse tungsten at the surface of the primary particles and form a compound that contains tungsten and lithium at the surface of the primary particles from the tungsten and the lithium in the mixture. |
